ASU announces 2014 Football schedule

Alabama State University announced its 2014 football schedule Tuesday, with six home games on the 12-game slate.

Stillman returns to the Turkey Day Classic for the second straight year, and will be played on Saturday, November 22, one of three non-conference opponents on the Alabama State schedule.

The Hornets will open the season with a pair of new opponents, first taking on Sam Houston State in Huntsville, Texas on August 30.

Alabama State will spend September at home, beginning with the Inaugural Classic on September 6 against Tennessee State, the game part of a week of festivities in the inauguration of new Alabama State University President Dr. Gwendolyn Boyd.

The Hornets will play the first of nine consecutive Southwestern Athletic Conference games against Mississippi Valley State September 13 on Faith and Family Night.  Alabama State will host Arkansas-Pine Bluff September 20 on Connection Day. The Hornets will then host Texas Southern on September 27.

Alabama State will then play four straight games away from home, beginning at Alcorn St. (Oct. 4) and  at Prairie View (Oct. 11), in Birmingham against Alabama A&M in the 73rd State Farm Magic City Classic (Oct. 25) and at Southern (Nov. 1).

The Hornets will then return home to host Jackson State November 8 on Military Appreciation Day before ending SWAC play at Grambling (Nov. 15). The Toyota SWAC Football Championship is Saturday, Dec. 6 in Houston, Texas.
