COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

One of the top candidates for Columbus mayor four years ago has now dropped out of the race for that top job.

Zeph Baker, who declared he was running for mayor, has now officially qualified to run for Columbus City Council instead.

Baker was in a runoff with current Mayor Teresa Tomlinson in 2010. This year, he will go up against incumbent councilor Pops Barnes for his District 1 seat.

Baker tells News Leader 9, people have consistently asked him to run for city council.
