CSU students help House of Heroes for alternative spring break

Posted: Updated:

A group of students from Columbus State University traded a week at the beach for a week of community volunteering by participating in alternative spring break this week.

Rain did not prevent these college students from re-organizing the House of Heroes (HOH) warehouse in order to help the organization better serve the many military veterans in the Columbus area. HOH team captains utilize the warehouse for many of the supplies required for the house projects.

"It makes you feel very good about yourself," says CSU student Carlie Hinson. "You're not only giving back, you're helping in a very small way but also in a very big way."

HOH is a Columbus-based nonprofit organization that works to improve the quality of life for veterans (and their spouses) who are disabled, living on a fixed income, or facing other physical and financial challenges. Learn more at houseofheroes.org.

CSU's alternative spring breaks began in 2011.
