Tonight's "When I Grow Up" session for girls in Columbus to cover tough issues

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

D30 Cares is hosting another "When I Grow Up" talk session for girls ages nine to 14 in the Columbus area this evening, March 6, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The talk will cover a variety of topics such as strangers, kidnapping, child molestation, latchkey kids and fire safety.

Tan Coleman, and author and motivational speaker, will be delivering a message about child molestation, the warning signs and how to speak up. Officer Jones of the Columbus Police Department will teach the young ladies signs and dangers to be aware off when surrounded by strangers, and what to do if they are ever kidnapped or in danger. The Columbus Fire Department will have a fire truck on site, and will be giving out helpful tips about fire safety.

The event will take place at The Gallery at Fountain Park, 4261 Macon Rd. in Columbus.
