KINGMAN, AZ (CBS5) -

Two Kingman men were arrested and booked into jail on two counts of felony forgery after an investigation by Mohave County sheriff's detectives that began in January.

Christopher Allen Collins and Wesley Allen Blodgett, both 26, were arrested Thursday and Friday, respectively, according to a Mohave County Sheriff's Office news release.

The investigation began when Collins' 78-year-old grandmother told deputies someone had stolen some of her checks from her home and had cashed them without her authorization, according to the release.

The investigation led detectives to suspect both men, but detectives were only able to contact Collins on Thursday, according to the release.

He told the detectives he stole the checks and cashed them, and was arrested, according to the release. Detectives said they were able to contact Blodgett the following day and he told them he and Collins were close friends since childhood, and also admitted that he cashed a check for Collins, according to the release.

Blodgett was also arrested and booked into the Mohave County Jail.

The case is still under investigation.
