DeMarcus Ware released by Cowboys after nine seasons

DALLAS, TX (WSFA) -

According to multiple sources, including ESPN.com, former Troy University football star, DeMarcus Ware, has been released by the Dallas Cowboys.

Ware was selected by the Cowboys in the first round of the 2005 draft, and has played in Dallas for nine seasons. The 31-year-old defensive end played in 141 games for the Cowboys and in that time racked up 576 combined tackles, 444 of those were solo. Ware also has 117 career sacks, 32 career forced fumbles, seven career fumble recoveries, two career interceptions and three career touchdown.

Ware's 117 sacks are the most by a Cowboy's player in the history of the franchise. The release of the seven-time Pro Bowler saves the Cowboys $7.4 million in cap space.
