TOLLESON, AZ (CBS5) -

Two people are in police custody after Tolleson police discovered 1,000 pounds of marijuana inside a home.

An officer responding to a call about a possible prowler saw the man crouching into a vehicle under a carport in the 700 block of N. 92nd Avenue at about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to Tolleson police Sgt. Obed Gaytan.

The officer said he could smell an odor of marijuana coming from the house as he approached, Gaytan said.

The man ran as the officer drew near. Other people began escaping from the home.

Two men from Phoenix were taken into custody. Perfecto Angulo Nunez, 30, and Senon Zavala-Meza, 39, were booked into the Maricopa County Jail on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sale, possession of marijuana for transportation and criminal trespassing.

Officers served a search warrant on the home and uncovered the pot.
