MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

The three suspects charged in the murder of a Montgomery Taco Bell manager in March appeared in court Thursday for their preliminary hearings.

Gacolby Green, 22, and two Taco Bell employees, 19-year-olds Renauldous Jamal Chisholm and Kenneth Duane Temple, are all charged with capital murder in the case.

All three cases were bound over to a grand jury.

Vettia Roche, 43, was shot multiple times and hit several times with a car jack during a robbery as she was leaving the Taco Bell in the 5300 block of Atlanta Highway where she worked as the night manager, according to court documents. Her body was found early the next morning on by cleaning and delivery crews.

MPD and Fire Medics were called to the Taco Bell around 7:30 a.m. March 10 on a report that a body had been found. When investigators arrived they found Roche behind the restaurant. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

Family members say Roche was starting a new life with her daughter in Alabama's capital city after losing their home in a tornado in neighboring Mississippi.

Authorities have remained tight-lipped on the case and have declined to shed any light on how they've connected the three suspects to the crime or the relationship between them. Sources say the three men are friends.

Montgomery Public Safety Director Chris Murphy says the arrests were the result of "good old fashioned police work."

"From the highest levels on down, everybody was involved," he told WSFA. "It would have been very easy to say, 'We've made two arrests. We got them. Now let's move on to the next case.' But, no. They continued to pursue the evidence and they did not stop until everything was resolved and continuing to pursue that evidence developed a third suspect who was very much involved."

He said patrol officers' efforts to expanded the crime scene at the restaurant Monday ended up playing a part in the investigation.

"Some other evidence was able to be located because that crime scene was so wide,"  he said. "We've developed even stronger partnerships between the divisions of the Montgomery Police Department... We want to bring justice for this community and closure as well as we can. Nothing replaces the loss of life."

In the wake of her death, Central Alabama Crimestoppers Director Tony Garrett is urging businesses across the area to create a plan of action.

"It's always good for businesses to train for situations like this. You always think in the back of your mind that it won't happen but it's a possibility and we wanted these businesses to be up in arms basically to day that it won't happen at their establishment because this is what we do to keep it from happening," he said.

Garrett says businesses should change up their routines with bank drops and that employees who close at night should always let someone know when they're leaving and try to keep a minimal amount in back deposits.

"Look for anything suspicious like strange cars or people hanging around. If there's something that you think it out of the ordinary, go ahead and call the police and let them be the judge if it's something to be alarmed about. You can even call and ask police if they can send a patrol car over to drive around the business before you leave," he said.

Central Alabama Crime Stoppers and Montgomery Police do security assessments, visiting area businesses to discuss crime prevention tactics with workers.

A bank fund is set up for the victim's family at Sterling Bank. Donations can be made to the Vettia Roche Account at any branch location.

Roche was a member of Consuming Fire Ministries in Montgomery. Her funeral was held in her hometown of Pensacola, FL.

Roche's death was Montgomery's second homicide of 2014.
