BARBOUR COUNTY, AL (WTVM) - The Barbour County Sheriff's Office has arrested a Clio man on charges of first degree rape and first degree sodomy.
Eric Ryan Campbell, 22, was arrested on March 12.
Campbell is charged with have sexual intercourse and deviant sexual intercourse with a child. The alleged incidents occurred at the child's residence in south Barbour County.
Sheriff LeRoy Upshaw with the Barbour County Sheriff's Office said the investigation was conducted and the arrest was made by his investigator Lieutenent David Morris. Campbell was transported to the Barbour County Jail and is being held under a $250,000 bond.
Sheriff Upshaw further stated that the child was abused by more than one person. Lt. Morris has already completed the investigation on the second suspect, and a warrant has been signed against him. Lt. Morris said the other suspect has left the state, but they have a good idea where he is hiding.
A third person is being investigated at this time, and an arrest will be forthcoming once that investigation is completed. Sheriff Upshaw said that the child had been allegedly raped multiple times by this suspect; therefore the investigation is taking longer.
