Thunder in the Valley Air Show cancelled Sunday

Thunder in the Valley Air Show is this weekend!

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - UPDATE: The Thunder in the Valley Air Show is cancelled on Sunday due to weather.

The Thunder in the Valley Air Show kicked off Saturday morning and Friday we got a sneak peak of the big event!

It's one of the largest outdoor family events in this area, reaching close to 20,000 people.

It takes place at the Columbus Airport on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

We talked to former NASCAR driver Neal Darnell who is participating in the air show. Now he's known for driving the "world's fastest jet powered truck," which goes 300 miles per hour.

"It's just another form of drag racing," Darnell said. "It's the extreme form of drag racing, but it allows us to travel around the country and not have to have a big crew."

Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the gate. Children 6 and under get in free, as do scouts in uniform.

The event is sponsored by WTVM.
