Russell Co. High School student killed on Hwy 431

Russell Co. High School student killed during morning wreck identified

(WTVM) - Russell County High School student Jana Hobbs, 16, was killed Monday morning after the vehicle she was driving collided with another vehicle.

Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry Jr. reported that a pick-up truck heading northbound on U.S. 431 near Uchee Hill Highway in Seale, Ala. T-boned her '95 Mitsubishi Eclipse at 7:15 a.m.  Eastern Time.

Hobbs, who was wearing a seatbelt, was rushed to Midtown Medical Center. She was pronounced dead at 7:59 a.m. due to severe head trauma injuries.

A passenger was also inside the car and sustained minor injuries. We're told the driver of the pick-up truck also sustained minor injuries.

Alabama State Troopers are investigating the accident. More information will be added to this developing story.
