Those celebrating St. Patrick's Day by partying are urged to take caution.

Police in Columbus and Phenix City will be patrolling the streets as normal looking out for impaired drivers.

There will also be off-duty officers working security at bars in Uptown.

Police and the Georgia State Patrol are relying on those patrol units and you to keep the roads safe.

"If they see an impaired driver or a stranded motorist give us a call at *GSP, it will connect you to the local post, it's a free call and if we can't get out there we will try and get a local agency to get out and assist you," said senior trooper Darryl Benton.

Columbus will not have any additional patrols for the holiday, but urges those out drinking to call a friend or a cab. You can also call Tow To Go for a free ride home
