COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Saint Anne-Pacelli High School is "going green" for Green Week.

The event is hosted by the school's green team. All week, students are learning how to benefit the environment by recycling, and finding new uses for old things.

Activities include collecting printer cartridges and electronics for recycling (no TVs), making recycled craft projects with lower school students, and a lot of learning about our environment.

"Green Week is where the upperclassmen of the school get to go do activities with the younger students in the school, showing them the importance of recycling, and how it helps out the environment," says Savannah Claridy, a volunteer and Senior at St. Anne-Pacelli. "They use recyclable items to make other items. For example, I saw some students make binoculars out of toilet paper rolls, and brackets, and necklaces out of old shirts."

Claridy also says it's important for kids to become more aware of how to protect the environment. She says it's a good thing, and it can also be fun.
