We are fortunate to have the Shreveport Regional Arts Council also known as SRAC. Every community needs streets, public utilities, businesses and schools. But another essential ingredient for quality of life is art.

And it's that appreciation for the arts and cultivation of the arts where SRAC shines. Since 1976, SRAC has been a driving force behind the arts in the classroom, in public spaces and through new an innovative cultural events.

Like UNSCENE! which pairs nationally known artists with area artists bringing new and exciting concepts to the ArkLaTex. Of course, all of this takes money.

Just this week, the kick-off for Christmas in the Sky took place. It's an internationally award winning gala that happens every two years. The event has generated well over one and a half million dollars for community arts in our area.

KSLA News 12 is proud to be a sponsor of this event and a supporter of the arts. We invite you to join us.

I'm James Smith.
