KSLA News 12 Guest Editorial: March 24th-Duck Commander Independence Bowl

Sports brings people together no matter your race, age, or socioeconomic status. In fact, when I attend a football game and my favorite team scores, I always celebrate with the people around me. I never ask how much money they make or where they live, because that is not important!

I am proud to be the first African-American male to lead the Independence Bowl Foundation, and it is not by chance. Lots of prayers, meetings and family discussions have lead me to take the reins of a 38-year-old organization in which I have been a volunteer for the past 16 years.

Louisiana is the Sportsman's Paradise for a reason, and since the announcement of Duck Commander as our new title partner, the phones have been ringing off the hook with people calling for ticket renewals, membership, and volunteerism. I would be lying if I said everyone is happy with the announcement, but to that I say, "Join the Duck Commander Independence Bowl and let's work together."

So please call 318-221-0712 to join the Duck Commander Independence Bowl and the Independence Bowl Foundation. See first-hand everything we do in this community throughout the year. Let's all work together, because sports is an equalizer that unites us all.  I'm Paul Pratt, Chairman of the 2014 Duck Commander Independence Bowl.
