AUBURN, AL (WTVM) -

Auburn University has released a statement on a cyber attack that occurred this past fall.

The University says an internal investigation reveals the College of Business was the target of the attack between Oct. 21 and Nov. 20.

The breach involves the personal information of close to 13,700 current and former Auburn University students, faculty and staff.

University officials say there is no evidence that the files were accessed or misused. They are offering each person affected one free year of credit monitoring and identity theft protection services.

The identity of the hacker is not known at this time.
