WATERFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Police in Waterford said they received a traffic complaint from an unusual source.

Isaiah McLoughlin, 7, wrote a letter to the department and said people were speeding down his road while he waited for his school bus.

"I'm done with the speeders," Isaiah said. "I just don't feel pretty safe."

He even told them he was available after 4 p.m. to further discuss the matter.

"I think it's unsafe because they zoom by," he said.

Police said they sent an officer to Isaiah's house Tuesday to investigate. The officer took the boy's complaint and arranged for officers to conduct speed patrols on the road starting Wednesday.

"After looking at the letter, we had concern for his safety based on the complaint of the high-speed traffic at the bus stop," Lt. David Burton of the Waterford Police Department.

Even as Eyewitness News spoke with Isaiah, his eyes continued to watch cars zip along Fog Plain Road. He said he hopes police crack down quickly.

"They'll put them in jail going 90, 60, 80 or 100 at least," said Isaiah.

The boy's neighbors said they share the concerns.

"They come flying down the road here," said neighbor Joe Miller. "Come down the hill, think it's a raceway."

"This is a good residential area," said Stephanie Cahoon, also a neighbor. "So there's a lot of kids, people walking dogs and stuff like that on the road."

Isaiah said he has other complaints as well. He said he's concerned about people who litter, but for the time being, he's focused on the speeders.

"There are kids on Brown Avenue, some on Edgewood, a few on Sandy Hollow and it's unsafe for all the kids," he said.

Officers said they thought it was a great complaint, so they shared the letter on the Waterford Police Department's Facebook page.

They also said there's a police citizen's class coming up and that Isaiah was more than welcome to attend.
