BESSEMER, AL (WBRC) -

A Bessemer couple celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary Wednesday.

Eddie Lee and Ethel Colvin met in church when Ethel was just 13-years-old and married when she turned 18. The only time they've spent apart is when Eddie Lee was stationed overseas.

The couple says they've lived in the same home since 1946, have 11 children and dozens of grandchildren. They still attend church regularly and say the secret to their staying power is simple.

"We still love each other, and I guess, I'm sure there was some love there, the reason we stayed together this long, 70 years," Ethel said.

FOX6 congratulates the Colvins on their big day! They say they will celebrate with a quiet night at home.
