LaGrange hometown heroes honored

LAGRANGE, GA (WTVM) - Fifteen individuals' selfless acts of courage and humanitarian service were honored Thursday March 27 by the Georgia Three Rivers Chapter of the American Red Cross at the Hometown Heroes Breakfast in LaGrange at Del'avant.

The Hometown Heroes Awards celebrate real people in our communities whose actions embody the spirit of the American Red Cross to turn compassion into action.

"This year's Heroes Breakfast is an opportunity to thank the people of our communities who make a difference in the lives of others every day through simple acts of thoughtfulness and compassion or through the most unexpected and extraordinary ways," said Connie Hensler, executive director, Georgia Three Rivers Chapter. "Today we thank our heroes for making this a remarkable place to live and our community partners who make this event a reality."

The Mayor of LaGrange, Jim Thornton, made a formal proclamation in which he said, "You [our heroes] are what makes the American Red Cross and our community work.  Our community embraces what you and the Red Cross stand for, so I congratulate you and thank you for what you do on a behalf of our community."
