A Prattville native has been identified as one of the men killed in a Georgia plane crash.

Adam Griffis, 31, from Prattville, and Andres Lopez Sr., 28, of Jacksonville, Florida, were killed in a Piper Seminole PA-44 that went down Monday night four miles from Brunswick, GA. Brunswick is located on the southeastern coastline of Georgia.

Their bodies were found on Wednesday afternoon.

Crews had been searching for the plane since the crash Monday, focusing on a marshy area east of Brunswick where the plane dropped off the radar and was seen falling from the sky.

The plane was discovered by a sonar device and identified as the missing aircraft.

Griffis and Lopez were from the ATP Flight School, flying from North Carolina to Jacksonville, Florida. ATP Flight School, headquartered in Jacksonville, is the largest flight training company in the United States.

WSFA spoke to Griffis' family members Thursday night. They said he was raised in Prattville and graduated from Prattville High School. He had dual citizenship in the United States and Chile, where his wife is from.

Relatives said Griffis loved to fly.

"He had his single prop license and wanted to upgrade it to a dual prop license," his sister-in-law, Jennifer Griffis, said. "A lot of people in Prattville and this area knew him and loved him."

The cause of a plane crash remains under investigation.

Griffis' relatives said they did not know who was flying the plane at the time of the crash. His wife, Moira, and son flew to the United States from Chile Thursday to be with family.
