UA statement on Saturday's riot after loss

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

There was a lot of chaos at Main Gate after the UA Wildcats loss to Wisconsin on Saturday; 15 people were arrested, with nine being U of A students. .

One of those arrested was 23-year-old Alexander Davidson.  He was taken down by police after he approached the officers standing guard.  Davidson was booked for resisting arrest and unlawful assembly.   He is not a current student at the university, but nine of those arrested were.

Some students say the situation made the university look bad.

Here is what the University of Arizona had to say about the riot on Saturday -

"It is disappointed that a minority of Wildcat fans choose to engage in behavior that does not reflect the culture of the University of Arizona and Tucson communities.  Our basketball team had a great season and they exhibited exceptional class at every turn.  They do not deserve the bad actions of these others.  As with all incidents, university students engaged in behavior that violates our student code of conduct will be held accountable.  The University is grateful for the efforts of UAPD and the Tucson Police Department to maintain order in our community."
