FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) -

Actor and humanitarian Gary Sinise and his 12-member band will extend America's thanks to troops and their families in Georgia with a high-energy, family-friendly USO performance at Fort Benning.

The performance will take place Saturday April 5 at 7 p.m. at Weatherby Field.

Home to the Maneuver Center of Excellence, Fort Benning provides critical training for an Army at war and gives Soldiers and Leaders the skills they need to be agile, adaptive and always ready.  This will be Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band's first USO performance at Fort Benning.

In the last 10 years Sinise has been a dedicated USO supporter performing 130 concerts and making nearly 70 appearances across the US and around the world at military hospitals, military bases and USO events.

An avid humanitarian and supporter of the men and women who dedicate their lives to protecting and serving, Sinise launched the Gary Sinise Foundation in 2011 to serve our nation by honoring its defenders, veterans, first responders, their families and those in need by creating and supporting unique programs designed to entertain, educate, inspire, strengthen and build communities.

Upcoming USO concerts for Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band include performances at Fort Stewart, Ga.  on April 6, 2014.
