Publix launches spring food drive

(WTVM) - Publix Super Markets customers are encouraged to stop by their local Publix between Sunday March 30 and Saturday April 19 to participate in the company's Food For Sharing campaign.

Publix has teamed up with local nonprofit agencies throughout the southeast to help feed those in need this spring and summer. The attached list includes food bank partners in The Publix Atlanta Division service area, which includes North Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee.

A Food For Sharing display will be located near the registers. Customers may select the one of three recipes created to incorporate some of the most needed nonperishable items by partner food pantries. Recipes range from $4.73 to $13.48. The amount for the recipe selected will be added to the customer's bill at checkout.

As a token of Publix's appreciation, a Food For Sharing reusable bag will be given to customers who donate to the program.

Publix is privately owned and operated by its 167,000 employees, with 2013 sales of $28.9 billion. Currently Publix has 1,077 stores in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina and North Carolina. The company has been named one of FORTUNE's "100 Best Companies to Work For in America" for 17 consecutive years. In addition, Publix's dedication to superior quality and customer service is recognized as tops in the grocery business, most recently by an American Customer Satisfaction Index survey.
