Snakes win series opener at Huntsville

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WTVM) - Shayne Stockton scored at the 4:35 mark of the second period, and goalie Andrew Loewen made that single goal stand with 45 saves as the Columbus Cottonmouths beat the Huntsville Havoc on Wednesday night in the game one of their SPHL second round playoff series.

The goal was Stockton's second of the playoffs.

Loewen saw his goals-against average in the playoffs drop to 1.01 and his save percentage rise to .970 (129 saves in 133 chances).

The Cottonmouths can clinch a spot in the SPHL finals on Thursday night with a win. Opening faceoff is set for 7:30 ET at the Columbus Civic Center.
