COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

The Lupus Live charity event is meant to raise awareness and research funding for lupus, an autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks healthy tissues. An estimated 5 million people around the world have some form of lupus.

The event will be held on Saturday, May 3 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the St. James AME Church banquet hall (1002 6th Ave. downtown) in Columbus.

There will be a variety show featuring local celebrities and artistic talent performances. Complimentary food, prizes, and gifts will be available.

At the event, the Mayor's Office will proclaim May as Lupus Awareness Month in the Columbus-metro area!

WTVM is sponsoring this event.

Tickets are $25 in advance or $35 at the door. You can purchase tickets on EventBrite.com and search for "Lupus Live", or visit WTVM studios (1909 Wynnton Road) to purchase in person.
