(WXTX) - A prison inmate who escaped booking at the Lee County Detention Facility last December has now reportedly escaped from the Muscogee County Prison.
Police are currently searching for Darrin Adams, a minimum security trustee. According to the Mayor's Office, Adams escaped work detail while cutting grass on Woodruff Farm Rd. He reportedly walked away during a bathroom break at around 2:10 p.m.
Adams was arrested for a controlled substance violation.
Resource officers were posted outside nearby Fort Middle School after Adams was reported missing. The school was not on lockdown.
Opelika Police arrested Adams last December for providing false information to a police officer. While awaiting booking at the Lee County Detention Facility, investigators say Adams exited though a door that was opened to release another inmate.
