Auburn to host hazardous waste collection

AUBURN, AL (WTVM) - The city of Auburn is inviting residents to participate in the 12th annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection tomorrow, April 12.

Last year 226 Auburn citizens participated to recycle or dispose of various chemicals and materials, including computers and related equipment.

Citizens may bring up to 20 pounds of material per household for disposal. Participation is limited to Auburn residents. Proof of residency can be shown by bringing a recent water bill

"In terms of contaminating the environment and contaminating the drinking water we can avoid that if we can expose of it properly and we've hired a company that specializes in this," said Tim Woody, Director of Environmental Services. "They have the proper methods for getting rid of the material and even some of it maybe recyclable so obviously lets do it for the environment."

The event will be held at the Environmental Services Complex, located on North Donahue Drive from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
