Arrest made in South Columbus church vandalism spree

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Police have made an arrest after members of several South Columbus churches arrived for service Sunday morning, April 6, to find large rocks had been thrown through their building windows.

James L. Morris was arrested on Friday, April 11, and charged with Vandalism to a Place of Worship. He pled not guilty in court.

It is not known at this time if others may have been involved in the crime.

The churches affected were on 8th St., Fort Benning Rd., Cusseta Rd., and Youmans St. Large rocks were thrown through the windows of the churches. The vandal(s) did not appear to have tried entering any of the buildings.

No items were reported stolen. The total damage to all six churches totals $2,642.
