6 indicted on charges in connection to 2011 murder of Steve Toms

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Six suspects have been indicted by a grand jury for their alleged involvement in the 2011 murder of a Columbus jewelry store manager.

The group of defendents faces up to 24 charges collectively.

Police say one of the suspects, Michael Johnson, shot and killed Gold and Silver Trading Center manager Steve Toms in November 2011.

Johnson faces charges of aggravated assault, armed robbery, two counts of felony murder, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime in connection to Toms' murder.

The other suspects are Dimitrius Gordon, Sidney Person, Xavier Bell, Jockas Gilchrist, and Theodore Alexander. They face charges including armed robbery, aggravated assault and kidnapping. 

Five of the suspects - Johnson, Gordon, Person, Bell, and Gilchrist - are also in violation of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization (RICO) Act.
