TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Tucson Police have identified a man killed in a traffic accident Tuesday night.

36-year-old Giovanni Sambrano was driving south on Swan Boulevard when he was struck by a car driven by Miguel A. Carrizoza, 22, who was traveling west on Speedway Boulevard.

Police say Carrizoza ran the red light and struck Sambrano's car in the driver's side, before coming to a stop in the patio of Sir Veza's Taco Garage at about 9:20 p.m. Carrizoza allegedly ran from the scene, but was detained by bystanders.

Carrizoza and his 23-year-old male passenger were taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Sambrano was also taken to a hospital where he later died.

Carrizoza has been booked into the Pima County Jail for one count each of 2nd degree murder, aggravated assault, felony criminal damage and leaving the scene of an accident.
