PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Phoenix police have arrested a woman for buying stolen beer and then selling it for about double the cost.

Phoenix police said Irene Gonzalez, 58, who goes by the name "mama" is facing four counts of trafficking stolen property and one count of selling liquor without a license.

On Feb. 25, a man was arrested for shoplifting two 18-packs of beer from a Circle K store in the Valley. Phoenix police said the suspect admitted to stealing the beer with the intent to sell it to a person known as "mama" who lives in an apartment at 2760 E. Weir Ave. The suspect told police everyone from the neighborhood takes their stolen beer to her.

Undercover detectives discovered the stolen beer was sold for an average of $15 per 30 pack and Gonzalez sold the beer for a dollar per can. Phoenix police said detectives also learned Gonzalez "coached" suspects in the "best practices" for beer runs.

On Thursday, officers seized 26 cases of beer and $5,600 cash.
