LEE COUNTY, AL (WTVM) -

A wrong way motorcyclist is recovering from injuries after a high speed chase that ended in a crash Thursday, April 17.

Russell County Sheriff Heath Taylor says 23-year-old Travis Cooley of Snellville, Ga. sustained non-life-threatening injuries when he lost control of the bike at Knowles Rd. and 5th St. in Phenix City.

Taylor says at one point, Cooley was traveling the wrong direction on highway 431.

Officers tried to pull him over in Lee County, but according to the Sheriff, Cooley sped away.

Cooley reportedly faces charges in Columbus after officers found methamphetamine on him at the hospital. He was also wanted on an outstanding probation warrant.
