The Maneuver Center of Excellence announced Friday, April 18, that their chief of Armor and commandant of the Armor School, Brig. Gen. Leopoldo A. Quintas, has been reassigned to Fort Bliss, Texas.

Quintas has served as the chief of Armor and commandant of the Armor School since Sept. 5, 2013. He was recently guest speaker at the grand opening of the Armor & Calvary Gallery in the National Infantry Museum.

"The Challenges we face today are very, very similar to challenges we've faced in the past," Quintas told News Leader 9. "And for us as soldiers and leaders, we can learn a lot of lessons from how it was done in the past. Some great leaders, some great soldiers, how they overcame adversity and challenges in the past, and they can really be an example to us as we forge ahead."

Quintas has been reassigned as the deputy commanding general, 1st Armored Division. The date of his departure has not been announced, and the name of the new chief of Armor has not been released at this time either.

Quintas and his wife, Lori, have two children.
