Blinded Veterans Association delivers Easter Baskets to Damascus Way

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Some children staying at a local shelter got a special gift Thursday thanks to two giving organizations.

Damascus Way and the Blinded Veterans Association worked together to deliver Easter baskets to children living at Damascus Way.

After the special gifts were delivered, children and staff at the shelter put on a performance that included worship songs and an Easter skit.

The shelter is so thankful for the basket donations.

"These Easter baskets… the Blind Veterans came and were making baskets for the kids that were at Damascus Way," said Christine Deborde. "This is the first time that the Blinded Veterans Association has brought them Easter Baskets. So we're going to build a relationship from that and I look forward to getting to know them better because they seem like a wonderful group of men and women."

The leftover baskets will be given out as prizes at an Easter egg hunt this weekend.
