Wanna Dance 2014 raises thousands for Woman's Discovery Center

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The Woman's Discovery Center held its 7th annual "Wanna Dance" fundraiser Saturday.

Twelve couples who practiced for about a month showed off their hard work at the Jonesboro High School Performing Arts Center.

"We pair up couples from across the community and give them a coach. They learn one dance and they also solicit donations from the community," said Discover Center Executive Director Fay Cox. "Then on the day of 'Wanna Dance' they actually perform their routines for the audience. It's lots of fun."

This year the couples raised $21,450 dollars for the Woman's Discovery Center.

"We appreciate so much the support and goodwill of the community for what we do and the mission of the center, which is to enable women from all walks of life to connect through the center for support and enrichment and service to our community," Cox said.

"Wanna Dance" is the primary means of funding the Woman's Discovery Center's operation and programming costs.
