It's a celebration for Easter in the Chattahoochee Valley

MIDLAND, GA (WTVM) - Easter baskets in hands, hundreds of friends and family gathered here at Solid Rock Assembly of God for a Easter celebration. One to remind them of the true reason for the season.

Pastor Jay Bailey, lead Pastor of Solid Rock Assembly of God explains "It's the greatest day in human history, the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead."

For 6 years, Solid Rock Assembly of God has hosted a celebration, lead pastor, Jay Bailey says to unite the community in memory of Jesus Christ.

"And that's what you see here, we're throwing a party. Just celebrating each other, Easter egg hunt for the children, great food. We want to create a family picnic as well," Pastor Jay adds.

Creating an atmosphere that has something enjoyable for church goers young and old. It's an event member, John Page, says helps build a foundation rooted in religion.

Page says "for us we the celebration because it brings them closer to church. I know a lot of churches against the Easter egg hunt, but quite honestly anything the church does for the community, I think, is good."

With his 8 year old daughter and neighbor's son in tow, Page and his family enjoyed hunting plastic eggs for candy while others enjoyed toy giveaways, face painting, rides and more. All to help keep alive the meaning of Easter Sunday Pastor Jay tells us.

I managed to get my borrowed Easter basket filled to capacity here, but before I left Pastor Jay wanted to make sure that I reminded you guys that the real meaning for the season is of the life and sacrifices of Jesus Christ
