WEST POINT, GA (WTVM) - Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia (KMMG) recently donated $5,000 to the Georgia Three Rivers Chapter of the American Red Cross, along with emergency comfort kit items donated by team members, to assist with disaster relief efforts.
KMMG partnered with the Red Cross in recognition of National Red Cross Month to assist the agency in collecting personal care items that will be given to local families after a disaster. The comfort kits include items such as shampoo, soap, toothpaste, a toothbrush, a comb and brush and a wash cloth.
The Three Rivers chapter, headquartered in LaGrange, covers 10 county areas and has helped more than 550 individuals in the area, including several KMMG team members who have suffered fires and other devastating loses.
Randy Jackson, senior vice president of human resources and administration for KMMG, said KMMG was honored to partner with the Red Cross in a continuing effort to support those in need during times of crisis.
"We wanted to show our support for the many valuable services the Red Cross provides to the community," said Jackson. "The Red Cross has helped several KMMG team members with the tools and support they needed to get on the road to recovery after a disaster, and we are proud of the team members who rose to the occasion to give back."
Red Cross executives said the donations are appreciated.
"Kia has always been a great source in assisting us with disaster relief efforts," said Connie Hensler, executive director of the Georgia Three Rivers chapter of the American Red Cross. "We appreciate Kia and its team members for allowing us to be a recipient of its generosity in helping the community."
