Ft. Benning soldier dies after collapsing during overnight ruck run

FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) -

A Fort Benning soldier died suddenly at 12:37 a.m. Saturday, April 26, according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan.

Bryan says the 20-year-old soldier was on an overnight ruck run when he started vomiting, and then collapsed.

The soldier was take to Martin Army Community Hospital where he was resuscitated. He was then transferred to St. Francis Hospital where he later died.

Bryan says the soldier's passing is being ruled as a natural death, though the exact cause of death is not known at this time.

The soldier's identity will be released once it is certain the next of kin has been notified.
