Harris Co. candidates meet voters in public forum

Posted: Updated:
HARRIS COUNTY, GA (WTVM) -

Candidates for county commission and school board in Harris County are getting out the vote for the upcoming election.

Voters got the chance Tuesday, April 29, to ask candidates a question at a public forum.

Harris County Chamber President Jayson Johnston says this forum allows voters to choose for themselves who they want to lead in the community.

Each candidate answered pre-determined questions, followed by an open period with questions from the audience.

Harris County Chairman of Government David King spoke with News Leader 9 about the purpose of the forum. He says, "Give our citizens of Harris County opportunity to hear from those who want to be their leaders the next four years, and get to answer questions they may have, and also find out from our leaders what they see is the vision for our county moving forward."

There are three county commission seats and three school board seats up for re-election.

The primary election is on May 20, with the general election on Nov. 4.
