MUSCOGEE COUNTY, GA (WTVM) -

Brandy Sipling of Midland Academy has been named the 2014 Muscogee County School District Teacher of the Year.

"I'm here as a result of all of the wonderful mentors I've had in my teaching career. They helped me when those moments didn't come so easily. And now I'm able to provide that same mentorship to new, younger teachers," says Sipling.

The Muscogee Education Excellence Foundation made the announcement on Thursday, May 1 at a gala honoring 57 Teachers of the Year. Sipling was chosen as the most outstanding representative of the teaching faculty of the Muscogee County School District.

We spoke with Sipling on Friday, who says teaching is her passion and there's nothing else she would rather do.

"Every day is a new challenge and my children truly make the day better," Sipling added. "You never know what to expect and you have to be able to think on your feet. Be flexible. And it's always an exciting endeavor. So, teaching is where I would like to say."

Sipling has been teaching second grade at Midland Academy since 2006. Before she was at Midland Academy, she taught at Eastway Elementary where she began her teaching career in 2000.
