BALTIMORE (RNN) - Amateur video posted on YouTube caught part of a city street collapsing on train tracks Thursday, taking out cars and a weakened retaining wall as the ground crumbled beneath them.

At least 10 cars went down in the collapse. No one was injured.

Residents on the street were forced to evacuate. The Baltimore Sun reported some of them had complained for years about the retaining wall's deterioration to CSX, the company that owns the tracks.

The company performed a structural review of the wall in April 2013 and found it to be structurally sound, but no documents were made available from the mayor's office or from CSX, according to The Sun.

In the YouTube video, a resident is heard remarking how the 120-year-old wall had problems for some time.

About 20 people will be out of their homes for an indefinite time.

"They knew the problem was there. They waited so long, and now they're saying they want to do this ultrasound and spend all these resources?" resident Jack Temple told Baltimore Sun. "It's too late. Now we're going to be out of our houses. I have no idea what we're going to do."

Officials said harsh winter and the recent storms played a factor in the collapse.

Baltimore was inundated with rain from a severe weather system that marched up the East Coast. The storms caused flooding and sinkholes in the city.

The system was the same one that marched across the U.S. all week, causing tornadoes Sunday in Kansas and Arkansas and through the Southeast on Monday. The same system caused massive flooding when more than 2 feet of rain fell in 24 hours in Pensacola, FL, washing away highways and roads.

At least 38 deaths were attributed to tornadoes and flooding from Iowa to Florida.

CSX also appeared in the news Wednesday when 12 train cars carrying crude oil derailed in downtown Lynchburg, VA. Three cars were breached, causing a fire that sent flames and black smoke into the sky, and the evacuation of 300 people from the area.
