RUSSELL COUNTY, AL (WTVM) - A Russell County teenager pleaded guilty to first degree attempted assault after police say he plotted to use homemade explosives against his fellow high school students.
Derek Shrout was put on probation and fined $2,000.
Shrout was arrested on Jan. 4, 2013 after police intercepted his plans to attack the school.
"The journal contained several plans that looked like potential terrorist attacks, and attacks of violence and danger on the school. And in particular, there were six students specifically named, and one teacher," said Russell County sheriff Heath Taylor in 2013.
Police said he calls himself a white supremacist and he wanted to harm other students.
