On Friday, May 2, the Law office of Ronald L. Clark, Jr. and the firm of Carpenter, Ingram & Mosholder, LLP, filed a civil complaint against the City of Opelika and Officer Phillip Hancock in regards to the March 6, 2014 shooting of 20-year-old Airman Michael Davidson.

According to the family, Davidson was driving to a military assignment in North Carolina when he was shot in the stomach by an Opelika police officer.

A statement from the law office says the family is still waiting on the release Officer Hancock's dashboard-cam video for any evidence in the shooting.

The Alabama Bureau of Investigation is still investigating the shooting. According to a statement, the ABI will make recommendations to the District Attorney regarding any possible grand jury proceedings.

Davidson is still recovering from his injuries.
