Phenix City approves 3rd Avenue streetscape

PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - It's a project to make the area around the almost-finished Marriott hotel and the new Troy campus more pedestrian friendly and it has a $2 million price tag.

The streetscape will run from 3rd Avenue to 16th Avenue and will switch the roads from two, to one lane traffic along 3rd Avenue. The project will also add parking to the street, as well as a parking garage right in front of the new hotel.

Cross walks, street lamps and a green space will also be added.

Phenix City Director of Public Works Angel Moore tells me the project is still in the design stage. The city is hoping to finish the streets cape along with parking garage which she hopes will be in spring of 2015.
