COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

A spoken word poet from Columbus is about to make her debut on national television.

Chiara Richardson, co-director and coach of the Fountain City Slam, is flying to Los Angeles this week to appear on the fourth season of Verses and Flow on TV One.

"I feel very blessed to have this opportunity," Richardson says. "It's a very humbling, you know, experience, and I'm just looking forward to sharing my gifts, and seeing the spoken word community grow at it has been and be able to give as much to it as it has given to me."

The title of the piece she will perform on the show is Black is Beautiful.

Other poets in the Chattahoochee Valley area have also been featured in past episodes.
