COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

A Muscogee County fugitive previously seen on News Leader Nine's Most Wanted, was in court Wednesday, May 7, facing a host of charges including multiple counts of aggravated assault on police.

Lerodrick Gaines will be spending time in the Muscogee County Jail until his case is transferred to Superior Court.

A municipal court judge has now granted Gaines a bond of more than $26,000. However, Gaines will not be able to leave jail. The judge declined a bond for the more serious charges that he faces including aggravated assault, failure to register, and impersonating another.

Gaines was in court for three separate events. Two were for traffic stops in January and April, and the third was on Tuesday, May 6. Deputies tried to pull Gaines' vehicle over by boxing him in, when he rammed at least two deputy vehicles trying to get away. When that didn't work he gave up.

When Gaines' trial is turned over to Superior Court, he will be able to ask the new judge for a bond on the charges he was denied in municipal court.

Gaines appeared in Recorder's Court on May 8 for a separate incident that included battery and cruelty to children.

A Columbus Police officer testified that Gaines assaulted his child's mother in a vehicle after an argument broke out between the two. Gaines allegedly punched her in the face, repeatedly pulled her hair and hit her hip and legs with a pole, and told her she was going to die. The beating didn't stop until she used her young child as a shield. Both of her children were in the car. Gaines also caused damage to the vehicle.

His father witnessed the alleged attack.

Gaines was given an $8,500 bond but was denied bond for the battery charges. Gaines was also in violation of probation for statutory rape charges he received in 2012.
