COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Columbus police officers were honored Wednesday for their dedication and service to the Chattahoochee Valley.

All Columbus Police Department employees were awarded during this year's Public Service Recognition Week.

We were there to congratulate the officers for their hard work, and we talked to Police Chief Ricky Boren about the ceremony.

"It's very important that we recognize the individuals," said Chief Boren. "We have a great department. We have great employees. We need to tell them and keep them informed as to the fact that we appreciate what they do."

There was also a second ceremony this afternoon. During the afternoon ceremony, awards and pins were presented including Officer of the Year and the Medal of Valor award.
