San Tan Valley teen facing 27 count indictment

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

San Tan Valley teen Tyler Kost is facing a 27 count indictment accusing sexually-related charges against the 18-year-old, according to a Pinal County Attorney's Office release.

The charges were filed on Thursday morning, after a Pinal County Grand Jury returned a True Bill and the Pinal County Attorney Voyles filed the indictment alleging charges from Oct. 2009 to April 2014, involving 11 victims ranging in age from 12 to 17 years old.

According to the release Kost faces the following charges:

3 counts - sexual abuse with a minor, under the age of 15

6 counts - sexual conduct with a minor, under the age of 15

1 counts - child molestation, a child under 15

7 counts - sexual assault with a minor, 15 or older

7 counts - sexual abuse with a minor, 15 or older

3 counts - sexual conduct with a minor, 15 or older

If Kost is found guilty on all 27 counts he could face up to 147 years to 335.75 years in prison.  He will be arraigned by the Pinal County Attorney's office on May 16, according to officials he will be tried as an adult.

"If there are any other victims out there, in this case as in all sexual or physical abuse cases, I encourage you to come forward and talk to a police officer. I want victims to know that my office starts by believing," Pinal County Attorney Lando Voyles stated in a recent release, and continued by saying, "When I came into office, it was reported that as few as 1 in 13 sex crimes were being reported to law enforcement. Now we believe we improved the reporting of those crimes and are closer to 1 in 8 and while this number is not great, it is hoped that through the opening of the San Tan Valley Family Advocacy Center, which is soon to come, we expect to further improve on that number. Sex crimes, like other serious and dangerous offenses, represent lasting and often devastating effects for victims. We must continue to work as a society to ensure more victims come forward to seek the help they need as my office seeks the justice they deserve."
