MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

An Alabama middle school student is one of 10 finalists in the 8th and 9th grade division of a Doodle4Google contest.

Ansley Grider of Fort Payne Middle School submitted a doodle and its up to voters to determine if it will be the winner.

Grider's doodle deals with finding a cure for cancer. The submission reads:

"I would invent a cure for cancer because it would save so many lives. It would give millions of people the chance to live, to love, and to make countless contributions to society that would make the world a better place."

The winning animated doodle will be displayed on the Google homepage on June 9th.

The winner will also receive a $30,000 scholarship and a $50,000 Google for Education technology grant for his or her school.

Voting ends on May 9. On May 21 the final awards celebration will be held at Google's headquarters in Mountain View, California for the 50 state winners.
