COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

After months of investigation, police have made an arrest in the drive-by shooting death of 47-year-old Marvine Bailey.

On Jan. 25, 2014, Bailey was shot in the chest and killed while walking from her uncle's house to her mother's home on Forsyth St.

On Saturday, May 10, Columbus Police arrested 22-year-old Anthony Deshon Walker without incident, and charged him with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Walker was booked into the Muscogee County jail. He represented himself in court on May 5 and denied involvement with Bailey's murder. Walker told police that he was at his home on 11th Avenue from 1 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the time of the shooting. He claims he never left and no one came to visit him. Authorities used cell phone records to determine Walker's location at the time of the shooting, and they determined that he was not stationary and was within a 1 to 1.5 mile radius of the crime scene.

"It's not right how they put a murder on me for nothing," Walker said in court. He claims Bailey's son and one other man may have been involved with the shooting. According to detectives, the trio are closely associated with street gangs and gang activity.

He waived his right to council while being questioned and told police he did not have a gun, however he was seen with a shotgun and pistol in pictures.

He was denied bond for the murder charge and given a $20,000 bond for the possession charge. His case has been bonded over to Superior Court.
